One of the true highlights of La Marea is the combination of its stunning location and vibrant atmosphere. On a recent visit, I found myself savoring the 'Taco Guero' and 'Weathered Fish' tacos—both bursting with flavor. Each bite was a reminder of why this place is so revered.
Imagine sitting on the upper level, feeling the gentle ocean breezes as the sun sets. The ambiance is warm, inviting, and unpretentious, with live music enhancing every moment. The friendly, bilingual service, as noted by many eager diners, makes every guest feel special.
As Nyna M eloquently put it, dining at La Marea is about experiencing food that is "hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor" at every turn. Whether you're indulging in a succulent rib-eye or enjoying a comforting rice bowl, you're sure to find something that resonates.

“ Perched high above the Malecon, offering a 360 degree view all the way from Stone Island, to El Faro, to Mazatlan's busy port, the rise and fall of each swelling wave far below, and over to the coastline along the Malecon's length, La Marera offers exquisite food, friendly, bilingual service, 'roll your eyes back in your head' desserts, and food that is hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor at every bite. Try the 'Taco Guero', the 'Weathered Fish' tacos, the rice bowls or the Rib Eye - no matter what you order, "It's all good." VERY good. (Make sure to time it so you catch the sunset as you linger over desert. That combination is a spectacular way to end any day.) Sidepoint: Ls Marea has an upper and lower level, both with ocean views. The lower level is open until 1, has glass windows, and serves breakfast. The upper level opens at 3 I think, and is for dinner. No windows, so you can enjoy the warm, gentle ocean evening breezes! ) ”
“ We arrived at around 4pm had some drinks and a snack, great view and our server was amazing (Nicole) loved her. Then around 5 a group of 12 more joined us to have dinner. Again Nicole took such good care of us and this was a wild crowd lol. We had great drinks flowing the sunset was amazing dinner was server and was great. No mistakes made on any of the 14 plates. Definitely going back!!! ”
“ Excellent dining experience. Food, atmosphere, location and service was great. ”
“ What a great experience! I stopped in Saturday night around 6pm as the sun was setting. The views from up here are amazing; probably only bested by El Faro. In March it gets quite windy up here, so i'd recommend a light jacket. I had shrimp, marlin & fried fish tacos and they were all great. The staff was very welcoming as well. Even the views from the men's bathrooms can't be beat! ”
“ We spent the winter here in Mazatlan, and cannot recommend this amazing restaurant highly enough.
